Nintendo, In A Backwards Way, Helped Death Stranding 2’s Development
Despite being a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Nintendo, in their own way, aided in the development of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
As revealed in the credits (via VGC), motion capture was handled in part by Nintendo Pictures, the Tokyo-based CG animation and mo-cap production arm of the Big N.
Before it was Nintendo Pictures, though, it was Dynamo Pictures, but was rebranded to “focus on development of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP.” That said, non-Nintendo IPs have used their services, such as Toei Animation’s Pretty Cure.
Death Stranding 2, though, is a unique case, as this is the first non-Nintendo IP since 2022 in the game market. Additionally, it probably already inked some sort of deal prior to the acquisition, as Dynamo worked on the original Death Stranding.
