Nintendo Lowers Switch 2 Production As Console’s Demand Falters
Despite being the hot thing during its launch period, Nintendo appears to have lowered Switch 2 production, as especially in the US, demand simply isn’t as high as hoped.
A report from Bloomberg shed light that Nintendo has reportedly shaved 30% off of Switch 2 production, with the reduced output going beyond next month. The big factor behind that is the games simply aren’t bringing the players — yes, the system has sold extremely well, outpacing its predecessor’s nine-month period, but it’s also important to bring new players in.
Nintendo’s big holiday seller was, overall, supposed to be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, but that fell flat, with our review stating: “Hidden under the boring padding, superfluous fetch quests and linear level design, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond does have a few things to offer that I feel make it worthwhile to check out for anyone who’s looking for a simple, first person adventure experience.” The game also just didn’t sell as well as they’d hoped, struggling to even sell a million copies in December — its launch month.
Nintendo’s Pokemon Pokopia is perhaps the closest thing they’ve got to a true system seller, but perhaps this system will hold a great deal of variety, as we’ve got The Duskbloods to look forward to in the future, as well as a slew of other big potential system sellers.
