That Random Pikmin Video Was Just A Nintendo Pictures Showcase
Earlier in the week, Nintendo shared a video simply called Close To You, it was a three-minute animation of a child, their mother, and what appeared to be floating objects. Later on, it was confirmed that said floating objects were just Pikmin messing about.
Since the speculation could be put to rest a bit, save for what it was entailing — a new game? A movie? A TV show? — it’s with a heavy heart that we must say this isn’t quite confirming any sort of Pikmin future. The video was actually just something to showcase Nintendo Pictures, the game maker’s TV and film division.
Nintendo’s non-gaming division will “continue to explore new creative possibilities through video content.” So, really, what this was feels more like some reminder that the game maker is looking at being more than just a game maker.
Are you disappointed that this was just some sort of portfolio showcase? Do you have hope that there’s something in the works? Let us know below!
