Switch 2 Likely Cleared 1M Units In Japan Alone
Nintendo’s latest console launched earlier this month has been an undeniable success, selling three times the units of the original Switch at launch, making it the fastest-selling console in Japan.
Famitsu (via VGC) shared data in the console’s first four days, it sold 947,931. Now, that’s not a whole week and we suspect that it’s already surpassed that million threshold since in Japan. This also doesn’t account for Nintendo’s My Nintendo Store, which also sold Switch 2 units.
According to Game Data Library, the console most close to the Switch 2 in terms of launch sales was the release of the PlayStation 2 at over 630,000. Within Nintendo’s ecosystem, though, the Game Boy Advance’s 611,000 takes that spot.
All that is to say Nintendo’s killing it this generation.
