Nintendo Switch 2 Is Outselling Original Switch By A Lot
The Nintendo Switch 2 is hot right now unsurprisingly, not only was it second place in hardware sales a whole here in the States, only lagging behind the PS5, but it also is tracking ahead of the original Switch.
Nine months in market later, the life-to-date install base of the Switch 2 is ahead of the original by 45%, according to Circana’s Mat Piscatella.
The OG Switch was nine months into life back in November 2017, but we suspect a big factor into why the console is trending so fast is Nintendo’s hardware is simply not built for current games — Resident Evil Requiem, which also took a front row seat in game sales last month despite only being out for two days, is available on the current Switch system. You’ve also got Pokemon Pokopia, which has been soaring.
Additionally, you’ve got 2027, which will see the debut of Gen 10 of Pokemon. Basically, the Switch 2 has a lot going for it and with how long Nintendo has waited to release a new system, the old system just isn’t as viable to keep around if you wanna keep up with the latest games.
