Switch 2 Overtakes Combined Xbox Family, PS5 Pro Sales In Japan

The Switch 2 has been a runaway success for Nintendo, as expected, from setting records in France to becoming Japan’s fastest-selling console. Now, it’s overtaken the combined Xbox family and the PS5 Pro in Japan.

As reported by Nintendo Life, the console currently sits at around 1.1 million units, blowing right through the PS5 Pro, sitting at 221,181 units sold. Even adding the Series X, S, and Digital X, you still get a hefty bit of wiggle room.

Now, considering Xbox’s historically weak sales in Japan, cementing itself in third place almost all the time while PlayStation and Nintendo’s hot systems flip-flop between first and second place, it’s not shocking that the Switch 2 surpassed it, but it is surprising that it surpassed not only the entire Xbox line, but also a PS5 model.
