Capcom Considers Game Key Card Sales Digital Sales
The controversial Game Key Card route developers can take will be considered digital sales, as far as Capcom is concerned.
During their most recent financial results meeting, Capcom was asked whether they record Game Key Card sales as physical or digital. The trouble with Game Key Card titles and how to consider them is that they are sold in-store, but lack an actual game on the cart, instead offering a digital key you download onto your system.
Very few launch titles aren’t Game Key Cards. When looking at third-party releases, a majority of releases on the system are Game Key Card titles, reportedly due to restrictive cart size, with devs only offered a 64GB cartridge to fit their entire game.
