Switch 2 Blows PS5 Launch Record Out Of The Water In France

Nintendo should be proud as the Nintendo Switch 2 has seemingly blown past the sales record held by PlayStation surrounding the PS5 launch in France. Spoiler; it’s not even close.

Gyo (via Nintendo Life) shares on Twitter that the Switch 2 managed to nearly double its sales compared to its competition, selling over 200,000 units to the PS5’s launch of 107,000 units.

Now, it’s important to consider why the console had a better start in the country compared to PlayStation, we have to be fair here.

Whereas Nintendo’s new system launched just last week, the PS5 launched back in 2020 during a pandemic, coupled with shortages on system components, and you can see some possible reasons surrounding the system being a bit stunted in sales. But, even so, the PS5 reigned supreme until last week, of course.
